Wireless Networking

Wireless networking began as a pilot program with the June 1999 Instructional Technology Funding (ITF). Wireless access was available in three campus locations beginning with King Hall in April 2000, then Shields Library and the Memorial Union to follow in the Fall of 2000. As of January 2001, the wireless network is operational.

UCDNet2 - Archived Site

This project extended network infrastructure to a number of campus locations outside the scope of Network 21 and connected outlying campus areas such as Research Park (southeast of I-80) and west of Highway 113. The infrastructure of the UCDNet2 project is a mixture of fiber optic cable, wireless and traditional copper wire.

The Network 21 Project constructed a new, fiber optic communications infrastructure at UC Davis. This upgraded infrastructure enables access to, and exchange of, audio, data, images and video both locally and globally through its connections to regional, national and international networks.
